What if I forgot my password?
Click on the "Password Retrieval" link located on the left navigation bar. Enter your username and click on "Retrieve Password" to receive an email containing your password.

Do I need any special computer equipment?
Some courses may require earphones or speakers. The system is built on the Microsoft. NET platform. Currently, only Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5.0 & 6.0 will provide full compatibility with the Learning Management System. Other browsers may work for some tasks, but may not work the entire site. Some courses requires Real Player media player which can be downloaded for free at http://www.real.com.

I already have Windows Media Player installed, can I use this?
No. Some courses require Real Player media player which can be downloaded for free at http://www.real.com.

I am having trouble viewing and/or hearing the course content.
Some courses require Real Player media player which can be downloaded for free at http://www.real.com. Some courses must be viewed using Internet Explorer 5.0 and later or Netscape 7.0 and later.

The link to view/print my completion certificate doesn't work. What do I do?
The certificate of completion is in a pre-formatted Adobe Acrobat file. This requires Adobe Acrobat Reader. If you don't have Adobe Acrobat Reader you can download it for free at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html.

I am having problems with the web browser that I am using. What can I do?
Currently, only Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 5.0 through 7.0 will provide full compatibility with the Learning Management System. Other browsers may work for some tasks, but may not work the entire site. Users may experience difficulties using other browsers like Mozilla Firefox. If you experience problems with your web browser, please try to access the site using IE 5.0-7.0.

The course I am trying to launch prompts me to install Java. Do I need Java?
Yes you must have JavaScript enabled to take advantage of some functionality within this site. To enable JavaScript from within Internet Explorer 5.x - 6.x: 1. Select Tools / Internet Options... from the browser's menu. 2. Press the Custom Level... button in the Security tab. 3. Scroll down to Scripting / Active scripting and select Enable to enable JavaScript. 4. Save changes (press OKs), and then press the Refresh button on your browser's toolbar to reload the page with JavaScript enabled/disabled.

Can I use the Learning Management System with my Pop-Up Blocker turned on?
No, you must allow pop-ups from this site. 1. On the Tools menu, point to Pop-up Blocker, and then click Pop-up Blocker Settings 2. Type the address (or URL) of this site in the Address of Web site to allow box, and then click Add Move the slider down to Medium. 3. Click Close

Do I need to enable Cookies?
Yes. If you are having problems logging into our site, then you may have your cookie settings set at too tight of a level, thus preventing our permissioning system from logging you in and deciding whether you should have access or not. There are two different ways to eliminate this problem. The first thing you can do is reduce your Security and Privacy Settings to "Medium" if they are set at a higher level. 1. Select Tools / Internet Options... from the browser's menu. 2. Press the Custom Level... button in the Privacy tab. 3. Move the slider down to Medium. 4. Click OK If you want to keep high Security and Privacy settings, then another thing you can do is to provide an exception so that cookies will work just for our site. In order to do this: 1. Select Tools / Internet Options... from the browser's menu. 2. Press the Custom Level... button in the Privacy tab. 3. Click the Edit button. 4. Type in the full address (or URL) of this site, click Allow. 5. Click OK

Why is there an asterisk (*) after the number of some courses?
An asterisk (*) indicates a course is required for all investigators and key personnel conducting research at UIC.
