The following training course covers requirements from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The course covers laboratory safety, bloodborne pathogen and needlestick prevention, emergency preparedness for the lab, compressed gas cylinder safety, chemical storage, personal protective equipment (PPE), and hazardous waste. The training is required for all visiting researchers working inside UIC laboratories. If visiting UIC for more than one year, this course must be completed annually. UIC students, staff, and faculty should not take this training course unless they receive permission from the Environmental Health and Safety Office.
