Accurate and engaging scientific communication is more important than ever, and PhDs are uniquely qualified to contribute to public discourse. Dr. Rob Mitchum will talk to about his career path from neuroscience graduate student to director of research and science communications at UIC, and how his scientific background – and outside interests – helped in that journey. Dr. Mitchum will also talk about how scientists can get involved in communicating science to a broader audience, either as a career choice or alongside their research work.
"Your Future in Science" is a seminar series designed for graduate research assistants and postdoctoral research associates. Held the 3rd Thursday of every month from 12-1 pm in COMRB, YFIS covers topics about career exploration and different career options, professional skills needed for career success, and preparing for the job search.
