Course Description

Join UL Research Institute's Senior Talent Acquisition Advisor, Merle Ward, for an empowering workshop designed to help STEM professionals stand out iwith confidence to optimize your career search. This workshop will take the form of a dynamic, instructive conversation that will help you refine preparation and interview approaches, learn how to articulate and differentiate your soft and technical skills in an impactful manner, and understand how to effectively navigate a job offer with grace and data driven insights. With Merle's on-the-ground insights, you'll learn how to communicate your professional contributions and value with strength and respect while setting yourself up for success and competitive career offers. Don't miss this transformative and interactive opportunity to enhance your interview skills and establish the foundation for your scientific career. 

The conversation will focus on the following topics: 

  • How to effectively navigate your STEM career search within a competitive and evolving landscape

  • The consideration and offer negotiation process, or how to put your best foot forward with intention and differentiation

  • Visa support and other work location logistics 

Participants are encouraged to bring a laptop to review and refine your LinkedIn profile during this workshop.

"Your Future in Science" is a seminar series designed for graduate research assistants and postdoctoral research associates. Held the 3rd Thursday of every month from 12-1 pm in COMRB, YFIS covers topics about career exploration and different career options, professional skills needed for career success, and preparing for the job search.
